French Slang (Argot)

Here are 12 French slang words for today:

  • accro: addicted; comes from the verb accrocher (to attach/hook)
  • bandant/e: sexy, interesting; comes from the noun le bander (birdwatcher)
  • dégoiser: to spout, rattle on
  • le gaspi: waste; comes from the verb gaspiller (to waste)
  • kif-kif: all the same; comes from the arabic noun kif (hashish)
  • la flemme: laziness
  • un minet: kitty or term of endearment 
  • un ordi: computer; comes from the noun l'ordinateur (computer)
  • piger: to get it, understand
  • rudement: roughly, harshly; comes from the adjective rude (rough)
  • taquiner: to tease, bother; comes from the adverb taquin/e (teasing, playful)
  • la vacherie: meanness, rottenness, junk; comes from the noun la vache (cow)
